digitalising skincare for gen z’s.

This project was about enhancing community pride and unity regarding skin confidence, specifically for teenagers dealing with acne.

I developed a concept for a digital platform designed to offer support to individuals who are deeply influenced by social media and prefer to remain anonymous.

  • Online and societal beauty standards pressure youths to achieve flawless skin, leading to low self-esteem among those who struggle with acne. As many do not have an environment to share their struggles and ask for the necessary help, they do not get the physical and emotional support that they need.

  • Initially, research focused on three stakeholders: Gen Zs with and without acne, and parents. Through insights gathered from the research, I found that self-esteem from severe acne was a very noticeable detail. As youths with acne lack a safe space to express their struggles, they have to deal with their negative emotions alone.

Additionally, many lack awareness of their skin type, potentially following ineffective skincare trends.

  • An ecosystem providing young people with a supportive community, emotional guidance, personalised skin analysis, tailored skincare product suggestions, and connections with experts. This ecosystem aims to empower individuals by offering the assistance they need to enhance their confidence and well-being over time.
